Zambreno says, “Some people have contacted me and told me that their life now . . . reminds them of the life of the narrator of [DRIFTS]” adding that “so much of DRIFTS is enthralled to dailiness and solitude, to even alienation.” Riverhead Books will publish the book on May 19, 2020.

His story “Anxiety Is the Dizziness of Freedom” was named a finalist in the Best Novella category and his story “Omphhalos” was named a finalist in the Best Novelette category. The author also did an interview with Electric Literature for a piece entitled “Ted Chiang Explains the Disaster Novel We All Suddenly Live In.” Knopf published the book on May 18, 2019.
