Wayne Koestenbaum’s MY 1980S AND OTHER ESSAYS received a rave review from Kirkus, which called it “a challenging, rich, aesthetic autobiography and intellectual high-wire act that rarely falters.” Farrar, Straus and Giroux will publish the book August 13, 2013.

SPARTA by Roxana Robinson was reviewed in Publishers Weekly: “Robinson’s fifth novel…is a detailed examination of the inner life of a Marine returning home after combat… By letting the reader live in Conrad’s skin, Robinson creates a moving chronicle of how we fail our returning troops.”
Sarah Crichton Books (FSG) will publish the book on June 4, 2013.

Sunjeev Sahota has been named one of Granta’s 20 Best of Young British Novelists. The honor is given every 10 years by the London-based literary magazine, which describes the list as “the future of literature in Britain.” In a short introduction, Salman Rushdie praised Sahota’s work, saying “I read this piece without knowing its title or the writer’s name (both Top Secret at the time) but the talent couldn’t be redacted. There it is on every page, strong, fresh and true. I look forward to reading more.”

Nicholas Christopher was interviewed by GQ about his new novel, TIGER RAG. The novel, “paints a picture of a jazz recording session so vividly that the reader might want to keep a towel handy for mopping his brow James Brown-style.” The Dial Press published the book January 1, 2013.

David Shields’ HOW LITERATURE SAVED MY LIFE was favorably reviewed in the London Evening Standard and the Huffington Post, which called the book “an amazing reading experience” and Shields a “maestro.” The London Evening standard called it “thoroughly rewarding.” Knopf published the book in February 2013.

The Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing went to John Branch of the New York Times for "Snow Fall: The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek", his work on skiers killed in an avalanche. Branch is now at work on a book based on another New York Times series, which was a 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist, on hockey player Derek Boogaard and his brain condition. The book was sold at auction to W.W. Norton.

Tom Reiss’s THE BLACK COUNT: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo has won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography. The New York Times Book Review, one of many to praise the book, called Reiss’ work “fascinating…a richly imaginative biography.” Crown published the book September 18, 2012.

Authors Xiaolu Guo and Sunjeev Sahota have both made Granta Best Young British Novelist’s List. The London based literary magazine recognizes and honors twenty writers that they believe to be “the future of literature in Britain.” Xialou Guo’s most recent novel to be published in the U.S. is "Twenty Fragments of a Ravenous Youth” was published by Nan A. Talese on August 5, 2008. Sunjeev Sahota first novel, “Ours are the Streets,” was published by Picador on September 1, 2011.

Amy Shearn’s THE MERMAID OF BROOKLYN received rave reviews in The Boston Globe and was selected as a Best Book of the Week by Oprah.com, which said, “In this sly and wise new novel… Shearn captures both the beauty and the banality of parenthood.”

Robert Caro’s THE PASSAGE OF POWER: THE YEARS OF LYNDON JOHNSON was awarded the New-York Historical Society’s annual American History Book Prize, to be presented Friday, April 12. Knopf published the book May 1, 2012.
