Gabriela Garcia’s poignant debut novel, OF WOMEN AND SALT, continues to hit list after list in the lead-up to its publication. BookRiot and Literary Hub both included it on their literary horoscopes for the month of March (for Pisces and Cancer respectively), and it’s been named a best book of the month by GOOP, PopSugar, Entertainment Weekly, O: The Oprah Magazine, Bustle, and others. Flatiron Books will publish the novel on March 30, 2021.

Kendra Allen’s debut poetry collection, THE COLLECTION PLATE, received a glowing endorsement from HEAVY and HOW TO SLOWLY KILL YOURSELF AND OTHERS IN AMERICA author Kiese Laymon. He writes: “THE COLLECTION PLATE is as close as we can get to those looming Black spaces beyond and before language. A book shouldn't be able to do this, but Kendra Allen is a conjurer as much as she is one of the most complete writers we have ever read.” Ecco will publish the collection on July 6, 2021.

GOOP announced this week that Meg Mason’s debut novel, SORROW AND BLISS, has been selected as their March Book Club Pick. They write: “SORROW AND BLISS is a modern love story that’s funny and dark, sharp and tender, hopeful and hard to put down. It has a brooding Sally Rooney vibe (but explores a slightly older and more mature slice of life) with exceptional inner monologue and palpable chemistry among the characters.” Harper published the book on February 9, 2021.

TEXT ME WHEN YOU GET HOME author Kayleen Schaefer’s next book, BUT YOU’RE STILL SO YOUNG, published this week to much fanfare. BuzzFeed published an excerpt of the book to celebrate its publication, and the New York Times Book Review featured it on their Shortlist, calling the book a “thoughtful and well-paced evaluation of ‘adulthood.’” Dutton published the book on March 2, 2021.

TELL ME LIES author Carola Lovering’s next suspenseful thriller, TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, published this week to a flurry of wonderful press. Book of the Month featured the novel as one of its March selections, noting: “Unsettling and twisted, this creepy thriller will make you wonder which of its narrators is telling the truth.” Lovering also held a virtual launch in conversation with PRETTY LITTLE LIARS author Sara Shepard via Barrett Bookstore. St. Martin’s published the book on March 2, 2021.

Georgia Clark’s IT HAD TO BE YOU received a wonderful review from Library Journal. They write: “Clark creates a quilt of diverse love stories, overlapping and meandering warmly throughout New York City. Each story Clark tells packs an emotional punch.” Emily Bestler Books will publish the novel on May 4, 2021.

Zibby Owens, host of the Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books podcast, included AMERICAN DAUGHTER by Stephanie Thornton Plymale on her “37 Books That Got Me Through Quarantine” list. AMERICAN DAUGHTER published from HarperOne on January 12, 2021.

I’VE SEEN THE FUTURE AND I’M NOT GOING by Peter McGough was named an essential art memoir by ARTNews. They write: “Peter McGough’s wry memoir of the 1980s art world focuses on his romantic and artistic partnership with David McDermott…McDermott & McGough’s work comes off in the book as a radical satire holding up a warped mirror to the reactionary Reagan era.” Pantheon published the book on September 17, 2019.

BORN READY by Jodie Patterson received an enthusiastic starred review from Kirkus. They write: “Warmth and pride in identity radiate from the pages, brightened by the expressive, lively illustrations…This representation of a Black family and transgender child (author Patterson is Penelope’s mother) shines with joy and affirmation…A triumphant declaration of love and identity.” Crown Books for Young readers will publish the book on April 20, 2021.

Kirkus Review hails Jonathan Parks-Ramage’s YES DADDY as an “emotionally complex debut” and a “well-formed coming-of-age story, both erotic and chilling.” Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will publish the book on May 18, 2021.
