Praise continues to build for Dawnie Walton’s THE FINAL REVIVAL OF OPAL & NEV, which will publish later this month. THE PROPHETS by Robert Jones Jr. is featured on Marie Clare’s list of "35 Must-Read 2021 Book Releases by Black Authors," which refers to the book as “[a] devastating and beautifully written novel.” Jones Jr. was also interviewed by Watermark, as well as the Chatter on Books and KSCJ-AM/FM Having Read That podcasts. Chatter on Books praises this “fabulous debut novel,” noting that author “Marlon James called it ‘Epic in its scale, intimate in its force, and lyrical in its beauty.’” Lastly, the novel was recommended by SURVIVING THE WHITE GAZE author Rebecca Carroll on The Maris Review podcast. She calls the book “one in a thousand,” with writing that is “lyrical and beautiful.” G.P. Putnam’s Sons published the book on January 5, 2021.

TIGHTROPE by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn is a finalist for the 2021 Audie Awards in the Non-Fiction category. The Audie Awards are awarded by the Audio Publishers Association, and are “recognized as the most prestigious awards in audiobook and spoken word entertainment,” and are awarded by the Audio Publishers Association. The winners will be announced at the Audie Awards Gala, which will stream live on March 22, 2021 at 9pm EST. Knopf published the book on January 14, 2020.

Mandatory has highlighted Vince Granata’s memoir, EVERYTHING IS FINE, as one of their “10 Mandatory Books to Read After One of the Best Recent Years in Publishing.” They call the book a “harrowing and heartbreaking memoir” that “is going to get a lot of (much-deserved) buzz when it drops in April.” Atria Books will publish the book on April 27, 2021.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators has awarded THE BLOSSOM AND THE FIREFLY by Sherri L. Smith the 2021 Golden Kite Award for Young Adult Fiction. Smith’s historical novel was chosen by a panel of well-regarded authors from among the thousand titles submitted for the award. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers published the book on February 18, 2020.

MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE by Miguel Sancho received a glowing blurb from Chris Cuomo. He writes: “This book embodies love in action. With brutal honesty, Miguel explores the personal and familial challenges of fighting a child’s mysterious illness. But the inspirational power of this book lies in the passion of the parents and doctors who find ways to save children. In doing so, there is a message for all of us in how to deal with what life throws in our path.” Avery will publish the book on March 2, 2021.

Alex McElroy’s debut novel THE ATMOSPHERIANS received a lovely review from Publishers Weekly. The reviewer writes: “McElroy’s impressive debut novel (after the chapbook DADDY ISSUES) lands a well-crafted jab at toxic masculinity and attempts to control it...[making] hay with the miasma of contemporary culture.” Atria Books will publish the novel on May 18, 2021.

Adding yet another accolade to its glowing pile of pre-pub praise, Gabriela Garcia’s debut novel, OF WOMEN AND SALT, has been included in the New York Times Book Review’s list of “16 New Books to Watch For in March.” Flatiron Books will publish the novels on March 30, 2021.

Historian Audrey Clare Farley’s THE UNFIT HEIRESS: THE TRAGIC LIFE AND SCANDALOUS STERILIZATION OF ANN COOPER HEWITT has received a starred review from Booklist. The reviewer writes: “This book is as timely as ever...A gripping tale about the atrocity of systematic reproductive control.” Grand Central Publishing will publish the book on April 20, 2021.
