Ryan McIlvain’s ELDERS has been long listed for the 2013 Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize. The prize is awarded to the best debut novel of the year by the Center For Fiction in conjunction with the American Booksellers Association (ABA), the not-for-profit trade association for independent booksellers. Hogarth published the book this March 5, 2013.

Derek B. Miller’s NORWEGIAN BY NIGHT has been longlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association 2013 John Creasey Dagger award, which honors the best crime novel by a previously unpublished novelist. In their official statement, the judges said, “Tension, humour, and tragedy are combined in this beautifully-written contribution to Nordic noir with a twist from an English-speaking author.” Houghton Mifflin Harcourt released the book on May 21, 2013.

Ramona Ausubel’s A GUIDE TO BEING BORN was reviewed in The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, which called it a “wonderfully strange, often humorous short story collection.” Riverhead published the book on May 2, 2013.

Olivia Laing’s THE TRIP TO ECHO SPRING was reviewed by The Sunday Times, Scotland on Sunday, and The List. Scotland on Sunday called it “a triumphant exercise in creative reading,” while the Sunday Times noted the book’s “brilliance and originality.” The List said, “The Trip To Echo Spring is a nuanced and heartbreaking book.” Picador will publish the book on December 24, 2013.

Amy Shearn’s THE MERMAID OF BROOKLYN was reviewed in Parenting Magazine, which said, “Pick it up if you need a wise, funny story of hope when you felt all was lost.” Touchstone published the book on April 2, 2013.

Craig Thompson’s BLANKETS was named one of the ten Best Graphic Novels Ever in Entertainment Weekly’s special double issue of the “100 All-Time Greatest Ever.” Top Shelf Productions published BLANKETS on August 5, 2003.

Deadline recently announced that the movie rights to the sci-fi novel CYBERSTORM were purchased by 20th Century Fox. The e-book edition of CYBERSTORM was published in March 23, 2013.
