The honor is given every 10 years by the London-based literary magazine, which describes the list as “the future of literature in Britain.” In a short introduction, Salman Rushdie praised Sahota’s work, saying “I read this piece without knowing its title or the writer’s name (both Top Secret at the time) but the talent couldn’t be redacted.
